AR Design Studio

By | Architecture, Design | No Comments

So after an amazing 6 Months, I’ve finally finished my placement at AR Design Studio! I honestly can’t believe how much i’ve learnt throughout the placement experience and would definitely recommend it to anyone. Working for a relatively small practice also had great advantages and I was able to participate in multiple design stages, was exposed to the architectural world through lectures, competitions and trips and I was even made to build a sculpture.  Massive thanks to the whole team, I had a brill time.

The Tin.

By | Architecture, Design | No Comments
Exciting news!? I have a placement, woooo! I'm now working at an architecture practice called 'AR Design Studio' in Winchester and you can check them out here. What I have been dying to blog about though is a mini project of mine that  i've been working on since moving out of bath in late January. I say mini project, its more a mini portfolio. I wanted to create a CV that would grab people's attention, that was fun, and that I felt was a true reflection of me and thus, the tin was born! Using a circle cutter I found online...

Me and Japanese architecture. Part 1

By | Architecture, Travel | No Comments
What architecture am I into? I got asked this question recently and although completely reasonable, I was in a way kind of surprised by it and felt very put on the spot. I mentioned contemporary architecture and Frank Lloyd Wright. Perhaps that seems a little predictable, I don't know. But on the other hand, I do like both of those things. Semester 1 is over! It’s gone so fast I’m amazed. It was exceptionally busy but also pretty fun at the same time. Work wise, I’ve recently been working on improving photoshop skills and am set to also learn rendering software. e.g 3Ds Max. This is my most recent work on photoshop:     I don’t think the building blends quite as seamlessly as it could, but i’m pleased with my improvements on the photoshop front; I used youtube tutorials for tips! We’ll see what happens next! Happy Monday Cora xx

Village Hall

By | Architecture | No Comments

External Perspective My first Architecture related post! I’ve just had my first crit of the semester, and it was stressful as always, but I’m pretty pleased with how everything went. The brief of this project was to design a ‘community hub’, effectively a village hall, that had to contain plenty of storage, a hall, a meeting room, a kitchen and WC’s. Although I had some major time issues and i’m not completely satisfied with the presentation of my project, I’m really proud that I used the computer for the entirety of my project considering hand drawing is my thing. I’ve…

The Mobius shoe.

By | Architecture, Design | No Comments

Being back at uni has already lead to late night blog posts, but i’m still here. So today, I wanted to do a feature post on United Nude, a shoe company founded in 2003. Having read Tamara Mellon’s memoir, ‘In her shoes’, this summer, my love for shoes has grown even stronger. Whether they’re flats, heels or somewhere in between, I appreciate them. But why United Nude you ask!? For the Mobius Shoe, almost a heel without a heel. A sculptural piece of shoe design that has since become a classic. It is thought to have been inspired by Mies…
